'Roadmap Heart' is the worthy successor of the successful ' Pure Motive '. Challenging and even somewhat poetic, Marisa perfectly crosses the boundaries of the alternative country, blues and folk scene. Traveling for her, is clearly ingrained from childhood. At a young age, she repeatedly crossed (with her family) the Australian outback. The lyrics of the opening track '1000 Mile Stare' set the scene perfectly. 'Old Hotel Phone' and 'Leaves' where she lets her voice accompany just a piano are the only live tracks, out of fifteen songs all up. Sublime sounds and melodic acoustic guitars, these two elements are the main ingredients. Her personal stories grab you by the throat. Featuring again the cream of Australia's best musicians, such as Garrett Costigan on pedal steel, electric guitar Dave Steel, Davey Porter on drums, and bass by Grant Cumberford. Add Matthew Vehl on Hammond and keys, and we have a sound that is unique and complex in its simplicity. Marisa's voice sometimes makes us think back to Charlene Spiteri (Texas).
For now we have this beautiful album "Roadmap Heart", but in 2010 we hear Marisa Yeaman will return to Europe to tour. All should be there, I would say so!
