'Pure Motive' named in USA's Freight Train Boogie - Best of 2006
After receiving four stars in a review during the year from USA based Americana Music Network 'Freight Train Boogie' (read review here).,, 'Pure Motive has been named in the 'Top 20 of Best Albums of 2006' compiled by Lead reviewer Don Grant....Don says:

Used to be a time when I thought that it was possible to say “Eureka! Oy vay! This is without a doubt the best CD of the year”. Sorry folks, just can't make those kinds of statements unequivocally any more. There are simply too many releases, and just too damned many sub-genres in this wonderful form of musical expression that we generically call Americana, to say that one in particular represents the apogee of achievement. Rather, here's my picks of all that I've managed to listen to this year, in first name/word alphabetical order, of ten excellent works that cover most of the bases, from traditional, alt., country, folk, country soul, and so forth:

CHRIS SMITHER - Leave The Light On (Signature Sounds)
DOUG SPARTZ & FRIENDS - American Stories, Lies & Tales (Phono)
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS - A Blessing And A Curse (New West)
GUY CLARK - Workbench Songs (Dualtone)
JEFFREY FOUCAULT - Ghost Repeater (Signature Sounds)
JOHNNY CASH – American V (American)
ROBIN DEAN SALMON - Gasoline (Paul Street)
ROSANNE CASH - Black Cadillac (Capitol)
SOLOMON BURKE - Nashville (Shout! Factory)
STOOK - The Soundtrack To My Minneapolis

Another ten in no random order that are worth the price of admission:
MARISA YEAMAN - Pure Motive
ALBERT LEE - Roadrunner (Sugar Hill)
AL VANDERVEEN - Cloud of Unknowing
THE GASLIGHTS - Lines and Wires
MICHAEL THERIEAU - Living From A Suitcase (Well Worn)
ANNE McCUE Koala Motel (Messenger)
RAMSAY MIDWOOD - Popular Delusions and the Madness of Cows
SUZZY& MAGGIE ROCHE- Why The Long Face (Red House)
KRIS DELMHORST - Strange Conversation (Signature Sounds)
JESSE DAYTON - South Austin Sessions (Stag)

Marisa wins 'Trebblie' Award for Top Best Female Artist Overlooked in 2006
Marisa was named amongst a group of Ten women Artists who all were awarded a 'Trebblie' Award from Treble.com a professional webzine based in the USA. The are the Fourth Annual 'Trebblie' Awards. Treble is compiled by a group of independent music journalists and critics from across the world.

"The Top Best Female Artist Overlooked in 2006"

They said: "All of these female singer-songwriters put out brilliant albums in 2006. With a team of family and friends, they booked their own tours and sold their CD's out of a suitcase in the back of the clubs they played. They worked their hearts out to make enough money for gas, food, laundry, maps, and phone calls to club owners to book their next show. It is the life of a nomad and yet these women would not trade in that caravan lifestyle. They do it so they can share their songs with audiences and make an impact on peoples lives like the way people have inspired songs in them". – Susan Frances

Lazyswede's' New York Radio Show profile of 'Pure Motive airs again

Back in December 'Pure Motive' was featured in two half hour radio shows compiled by UK Based DJ and Music Promoter, Glenn Williams for his show on WDYN in Rochester, New York. In these two shows Glenn did a complete profile of the album and gave listeners some background into Marisa's work. The response to the shows was so good that WDYN has since repeated the shows, and is about to run the series for the third time. Glenn's show goes to air Tuesdays at 9:00 AM Saturdays at 4:00 PM in the New York area, and the WDYN also has a large online audience.

Pure Motive enters the Euro - Americana Charts

Europe seems to be embracing 'Pure Motive' with open arms and this weeks entry in to the Euro Americana chart at number #19 shows how strong that support is. The album is speaking for itself - no big publicity campaigns, no hype, just moving on it's own 'Pure Motive', and people are listening. Compiled by Dj's, music journalists, retailers and promoters from all across Europe.

'Pure Motive' named in AmericanMusic.tk - Belgium's Top 100

Belgian radio presenter and musicologist Hans Hanegraaf has named 'Pure Motive' in his Top 100 Albums for 2005. This list is compiled from over 800 Albums worldwide.

Hans presents the American Music Radio Shows and is a great supporter of Alt. Country/Americana music from across the world.

American Music Belgium has also included 'Pure Motive' in their list of recommended albums for 2005. http://www.americanmusicbelgium.homestead.com/RecommendedAlbums2005page3.htm

Foreign Airplay

We recently found out that 'Pure Motive' is now receiving strong airplay in Denmark. For an album made outside the radio mould, the airplay remains steady for 'Pure Motive' with stations from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Serbia not only playing tracks from the album, but also passing the word about the album between stations. They join several stations in USA, Canada, the UK and other countries. Many have the album on rotation and are playing a variety of tracks from the album, so the support continues to grow... we'd like to say thanks to all those great Dj's who have been prepared to embrace the diversity of 'Pure Motive' .

Aussie Radio Support!!!

If there were elephant stamps for airplay supporters, a couple of standouts would have to include the excellent "Equilibrium Radio Show" with Laurie West on 3RPP9 on 98.7fm and 98.3fm (Frankston) who features Marisa as the "Opener" to the "Homegrown" shows and has been giving Marisa regular airplay and support. Melbourne's 3PBS Radio Presenter David Heard who has been giving solid airplay on his show "Acid Country" on 106.7 FM on Thursday's at 1pm. Also Tuesday Nights with Leo Gattano on Plenty Valley FM (3PVR) on 88.6FM, Raymond's "Country Harvest" at 88.6 FM in Whittlesea, At Radio 3MDR (97.1FM) in Belgrave, several fantastic announcers including Dale Blair, Greg Webb, Michael Holman, Dave Hosking, Russ Kellett and more (we love you all), have been great supporters of Marisa's music solidly for many years now, so BIG LOVE to all at 3MDR you guys are great!!!!..The fabulous Tony Bates who has recently moved to Highlands FM in Kyneton.
