MARISA YEAMAN 'Pure Motive' (Deep Pearl)
Now
everyone here is talking so much about Marisa we can't leave
it to rest. The Australian singer songwriter, who over the past
10 years has released three EP's on the market, surprises us
by the release of her recent CD 'Pure Motive'
We
hear a songstress influenced completely in her own way by folk,
country and roots, who blends those factors into these beautiful
songs. It interfaces with the music of Ed Kuepper and the Triffids,
also a band with a unique sound. We can't get enough of that
sort of music. This debut is therefore also accepted by us with
open arms.
Marisa
Yeaman edges on country music, in fact, she does traditional
singer songwriting but then adds many elements including bluesy
influences which evolves into thirteen songs with a unique sound.
And what an accompaniment with co-producer Andrew Pendlebury
on guitar and special guest Dave Steel on Harmonica and Dobro
guitar.
This
debut with iron strong songs shows especially traditional country
blues sound with here and there some folk influence evident.
Pure Motive contains excellent songwriting like Vacant
Sign, Solid Ground, Another Day and also the
confessions of King Tide and Lonely Puppet, songs
which show her background, and also at the same time, her individuality.
The
most attractive asset of Marisa's music is it's intensity. Yeaman
saturates her music with passion and emotion and knows how to
reach us with this special debut. This CD won't go past you
without you being touched by it. To compare it with others is
of no use, as Marisa Yeaman has her own striking sound. A sound
that has a big future. Whatever may happen this beautiful debut
'Pure Motive' will not be taken away.
