REVIEW - 'Roots' By Billy Pinnell - Australia
MARISA
YEAMAN - Pure Motive (Deep Pearl Records)
After wetting her feet with a number of EP released, Melbourne's
singer/songwriter Marisa Yeaman makes a big splash with her
acoustic based debut album Pure Motive. Backed by musicians
of the caliber of Dave Steel, Andrew Pendlebury, Dean Addison,
Ed Bates and Matthew Vehl, Marisa draws on her folk and country
roots for these self penned songs that include at least two
standouts, the Bob Dylan inspired Solid Ground and No
Fences, a story of Marisa's childhood spent traveling around
Australia with her family. Don't be surprised if the later is
covered by any number of Australian country music singers.
